In recent years, companies have seen a dramatic increase in demand for products that are sold online. One example of this increase in demand is the online flower shop. Thousands more people buy flowers online because internet florists have been able to give customers just about everything they want, which is a nice online store with lots of variety, easy to use, and personalization. Other companies have had to make their online stores just as nice as their retail stores because people have come to expect shops on the internet to stock a large variety of products. People also not only expect a large variety of items online, but they also really want the online stores to be easy to navigate. To meet this need, companies make the print easy to read and they usually have the “add to shopping cart” button in an easy to see part of the website. Finally, online shoppers do not want to have to fill in their shipping and billing information every time they buy something from the same store so, online stores now allow people to type in their information once and then allow customers to choose whether or not the company stores the information for the customer’s next visit. Companies are usually always making changes to their online stores to meet the demands of the increasing numbers of online shoppers, all with different needs and wants.
When people shop using their computer, they want the online store to appear just as nice as the actual retail store. So, companies try to create colorful, interactive websites, so people still feel that the online store is similar to the retail store experience. Some online stores create this atmosphere by showing a short video clip before people “enter” the online store. Others create colorful websites that also have sound when people go to a new page. People want to be able to shop on the internet, yet still feel like they are shopping at store.
Consumers have come to expect online to stores to stock a hefty variety of products. For example, online shoppers want online clothing stores to have a larger selection of sizes, colors, and clothing than the actual store. The good thing about online stores is that the products can be shipped, normally, from any store in the country, so there is almost always plenty of variety. Some online stores even offer free shipping from store to store, so consumers do not have to pay really expensive shipping costs to have a product shipped from across the country.
Finally, companies have also begun to understand that even though people are shopping online, they still want a personalized online experience. Online shoppers do not want to have to enter in all of their shipping and billing information every time they purchase a product from the same store. So, companies now offer to to store a customer’s shipping and billing information. There are now options too for people to create a profile at an online store so when they log in they are greeted with their name and it has a list of items they recently purchased or looked at. This profile option also allows stores to track what the shopper has viewed and what the shopper buys so the company can send emails suggesting other products the customer may like or emailing the customer when a new product launches that the customer might like as well.
Since online shopping has continued upward, so have the advantages and perks of shopping online. Nowadays, online shoppers can shop company websites that are easy to navigate, have an enormous selection of products, and that still has a personal feel. Companies that meet the many demands of online shoppers are guaranteeing that they will do well in the future as internet sales and internet users continue to increase at a staggering rate.
