In 1999, Rhonda Sanford Martini, DDS, put her skills to the test when she agreed to volunteer in Haiti. People in this economically distressed country often don’t have access to dental care. In fact, some people don’t even have access to fundamentals of home care, such as toothpaste, toothbrushes and floss. In fact, many people don’t even have access to clean water. People who came to see Dr. Martini during her volunteer time had simply horrible teeth as a result. Cavities were prevalent, missing teeth were common and gum disease was rampant. Rhonda Sanford Martini, DDS, did her part to help, and she was proud of her work when it was time to go home again.

In 2010, after a major earthquake struck in Haiti, Dr. Martini went back once more. She had developed an affection for the country after her first visit, and she wanted to do what she could to help alleviate suffering. Once again, she rolled up her sleeves and got to work, helping patients with routine care and catastrophic injuries, trying to alleviate pain and improve function. And again, Rhonda Sanford Martini, DDS, was proud of the work she had done when it was time to go home again.
